Don’t Lose Heart
Luke 18:1 – “Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart.”
Persistence is a quality we often overlook. How many victories have been lost, how many blessings left untouched, simply because someone gave up too soon?
Jesus reminds us in Luke 18:1 that prayer is not meant to be a “one and done” event. He tells the story of a persistent widow to show us the heart of God: He delights in His children who keep coming, who keep asking, who refuse to lose heart. The two ingredients of powerful prayer are simple—keep asking, and don’t give up.
But if we are honest, that’s hard for us. We live in a world of hurry. We want quick results, instant answers, drive-thru miracles. And when God does not answer on our timetable, we are tempted to move on to our own plans.
Yet God is not in a rush. He answers in His time and His way. Our part is not to dictate the method or the moment. Our part is to trust Him enough to keep praying. It is in the waiting that our relationship with Him deepens. Each time we lift that request again, our hearts should stir with hope—maybe today is the day He answers.
Though the answer may linger, God never ignores His children. He is faithful. He is good. And He always responds in love.
So what are you asking God for today? Have you grown weary of waiting? Don’t give up. Don’t let despair rule your heart. Keep knocking. Keep seeking. Keep talking with your Father.
He hears you.
He loves you.
And in His perfect time, He will answer.
