Where Will I Be Found

Luke 2:49
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

I don’t know what it is about garment racks in department stores that children think it’s a swell idea to use them for hide and seek. But every parent knows the terror of turning around and not seeing their child. In those moments, the heart races, the mind panics, and nothing else matters until the child is found.

I can only imagine the dread Joseph and Mary felt as they searched for their twelve-year-old son for three days. Then, when they finally found Jesus, His calm reply must have stunned them: “You should have known I would be in my Father’s house, doing my Father’s business.”

Jesus was surprised they had looked elsewhere. His life was centered on His Father’s purpose, and He wanted them to know that was where He could always be found.

That makes me pause and ask: When people are looking for me, what will they find? Will they think of sports, hobbies, or skills—or will they see me busy about the Father’s work? If the answer is anything less than living out God’s calling, maybe it’s time to reprioritize.

I don’t want to be remembered for titles or talents. I want people to think of Jesus when they think of me.

May it be said of us, like our Savior, that we are faithfully about our Father’s business.

With Gratitude, Pastor Jesse
