Suddenly

It is the “suddenly” experiences in life that often bring clarity, purpose, resolution, and commitment. Yet truth be told, the suddenly moments of life are rarely sudden at all.

In Acts 2:1–2 we read:

“And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”

The suddenly moment in Acts 2 was actually the culmination of years of preparation. It followed three and a half years of walking with Christ, the painful three days of watching their Leader suffer and die, forty days of trying to comprehend His resurrection, and seven days of waiting in Jerusalem for a promise they did not fully understand.

Their suddenly came after seasons of teaching, testing, confusion, surrender, and obedience.

I believe this pattern is seen throughout scripture. The walls of Jericho suddenly fell after a week of faithful marching. Joseph was suddenly elevated to second in command in Egypt after fourteen years of betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment. Again and again, God uses the process to prepare people for the moment.

Many suddenly experiences are born out of seasons of learning, changing, and positioning.

So if you are waiting on a promise from the Lord, praying for direction, or longing for a door to open, consider this: perhaps your current circumstances are preparing you to receive your suddenly moment.

With Gratitude, Pastor Jesse
