For Such a Time as This

“Perhaps you were born for such a time as this.”
Esther 4:14

Walking through difficult times is never easy. What often makes those seasons even harder is not just the pain itself, but the lack of understanding why.

It’s one thing to endure hardship when we understand the reason. Tightening a budget during lean times makes sense when we’ve chosen that path. We see the purpose. We know it’s temporary. There’s a goal ahead, and we willingly embrace present sacrifice for future gain.

But what about the moments that make no sense at all?

The phone call that changes everything.
The diagnosis from a routine checkup that becomes anything but routine.
The loss of a family member, a friend, or something deeply valued.
The sudden turn of events we never saw coming.

These are the times that shake us most are when we don’t have the “why.”

Esther didn’t know why she was placed in a royal position at such a critical moment.
The servant girl in the Second Book of Kings had no understanding of why she was taken captive, serving in a foreign land.
Mary and Martha couldn’t see how the death of their brother would reveal the glory of God and set into motion events leading toward the cross. All they knew was sorrow. Confusion. Disruption.

Yet we, looking back, see what they could not.

We see that God was working something greater.
We see that He had not abandoned them.
We see that every moment, even the painful ones, fit into a much larger story.

And the same is true for us.

Whatever you are facing today, whatever has entered your life without warning, know this: though you may not understand the chapter you’re in, you can trust the Author who is writing it.

He sees what you cannot.
He knows what you do not.
And He is present in both your clarity and your confusion.

Perhaps even now, you are living in a moment for which you were uniquely prepared.

For such a time as this.

With Gratitude, Pastor Jesse
