Precious Gifts

Micah 5:2
“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

When searching for Christmas gifts, I try to find something meaningful—something that speaks to the heart of the receiver. One year, I had my father-in-law’s old 1940s AM radio repaired and gave it to my wife. You would have thought I’d given her a treasure beyond price. That simple radio connected her to her father who had recently passed, making it one of the most cherished gifts she had ever received.

The little town of Bethlehem gave the world a gift infinitely more precious: the birth of our Savior. Bethlehem—small, quiet, and often overlooked—became the focal point of human history. In that humble village, the Savior of the world entered the scene of humanity.

To many, the birth of Christ seems insignificant—just another story, easily brushed aside. But to those who know Him, His birth is the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. In Bethlehem, in the most unassuming of places, Jesus was born to save us from our sins.

As we unwrap the gifts beneath our tree this year, may our hearts pause to remember the Gift above all gifts—the Christ child, born in Bethlehem and laid in a manger.

May He be the most cherished gift you ever receive.

With Gratitude, Pastor Jesse
