Waiting for the Weekend
Most of us, at some point in life, have stared at Saturday from the front porch of Monday.
Work, school, routines, and responsibilities stand between us and free time. Saturday is that special time when you get to be with the people you love and do what you want, when you want. No expectations. No demands. Just freedom to enjoy the day.
Whether you love what you do or despise and simply endure the grind, we all understand the feeling of working toward the place where we can finally rest and enjoy what awaits us.
Hebrews 12:2 says:
“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
The writer of Hebrews reminds us to keep our eyes on our Saturday.
Our Saturday is eternity: the day when we will see Jesus and experience complete freedom from this fallen world. As we walk this amazing journey of life, with all its joys, struggles, victories, and disappointments, our focus should remain on what awaits us at the end.
Jesus walked this lonely road of suffering, rejection, and trouble while keeping His eyes fixed on the joy that was set before Him. He knew what His work would accomplish. He knew what was waiting on the other side of the cross.
So, what is your life’s work?
Are your eyes fixed on Jesus—the One who saved you? Are you looking beyond today's struggles toward the joy that is coming?
Joy is coming.
Keep working.
Keep marching.
Keep your eyes on what lies ahead.
The week may seem long. The road may be difficult. The work may be exhausting.
But Saturday is coming.
Keep working for the weekend.
Keep working toward eternity.
With Gratitude, Pastor Jesse
